CompITA - A+ Certification & Network+ Certification

CompTIA, the Computing Technology Industry Association, offers the A+ Certification exams, a testing program that certifies the competency of entrylevel (six months experience) service technicians in the computer industry.

The A+ Certification exams assess basic computer service and repair technology skills. Want To Learn IT, offers courses to help you prepare for A+ certification exams. CompTIA also offers the Network+ certification. This certification verifies that the candidate knows about the OSI model, network components, and basic networking hardware peripherals and protocols. Complete certification requirements for both A+ and Network+ are located at the CompTIA Web site at www.comptia.com.

What is A+ Certification and How Can You Earn It?

A+™ certification is a non vendor-specific certification that tests entry-level computer service technicians on basic computer service and repair technology skills.

A+ certification is sponsored by CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association) and is recognised internationally and industry-wide by major computer hardware and software vendors, distributors, resellers, and publications as the standard for testing basic competency in computer service.

Service technicians with entry-level (6 months experience) may undergo the testing program to certify their competency within a broad range of non vendor specific hardware and software technologies. To become certified, service technicians must pass both A+ certification exams, the Core Hardware Exam and the Operating System Technologies Exam.

To help prepare for the multiple choice questions that make up the exam, technicians can prepare by using Want To Learn IT's elearning courses. Over 75 hours of A+ related course material are available from Want To Learn IT, covering topics ranging from Operating Systems to Networks to Maintenance Tasks.

Gaining A+ certification will help you gain recognition as a service technician with proven skills. It can assist you in securing a more satisfying and challenging job, earning a promotion, or acquiring a raise. And with the high demand for high tech workers with these skills, the time to get A+ certified is now.

For employers, hiring a technician with A+ certification can serve as a guarantee that the individual has gained competency in certain job-critical skills. This can help assure that your new employee will be a productive member of the organisation early on in his or her tenure at your organisation and will not have to spend the first few weeks or months of employment in training.

For more information on A+ certification and where to take the A+ Certification Exam, visit CompTIA’s Web site at www.comptia.com.
